MiracleA Poem by MiraEven after I left, I wished I had stayed. You stopped me from leaving but I still did for the
fear ate me up. My eyes see you in the crowd only to realize that it
was a mistake. Streets and alleys, offices and buses, colleges and seminars,
And any other random places that you might or might
not visit, I expect to run into you. You are fading from my memory… We don’t have any memory to share anyway. But I had spun many stories on the walls of my room, painted
your pictures across the pages of the books, written many letters and caged my
heart, For I am afraid to break. I know you will never hurt me but you will never love me
either. My poetry started with you, As I tried to pull you closer with rhythms and rhymes, But you could only hear the cacophony that my fear was
shrieking out incessantly. Will you hear the story if I take a lot of time? Will you judge if I sound mean or jealous? What about the bad decisions and mistakes…will you
forgive me for those? I am in despair for the pain my dishonesty is causing me. Despite pretending to move on, I didn’t take a single
step. I am still here…waiting for a miracle… be it you, or somebody
else. © 2024 Mira |
