Hero

Hero

A Poem by Mintwhiskers

The journey was being harsh on me

Trudging in the snow made me sore

The sharp whip of the wind stung my face

and cracked my skin

my hand were burning with aching coldness

I got weaker and weaker

I couldn't stop there was no shelter

The evil wind hit against my face blurring my vision

couldn't even see my hand

and then I had it

I fell into the snow and went limp

I was gone for sure

but softly I hear footsteps approaching

was I to fear or not

There then was a suddent warmth

all over my face

a dog's tounge was licking me warm

my little best friend came to my rescue and he saved me that night

My hero

I am from alaska, that was really very realistic. Great imagery and the title cuts the melodramatic effect that can be felt even in a poem. I like the personification of the wind...a protagonist, the speakers foulest enemy. Well done. Thanks for sharing. Barb
