Coffeeshop Stories for Two

"

Broken breath

A dirty game

Wasting all my life away

Gone are the days

That once held my bliss

Carefully stored away by your caress

The last time we spoke

You couldn’t evoke

You didn’t make me feel anything

Let me go quietly

Close the door behind me

Go back to sleep

You still have a life to lead

Was this all you wanted

Because it’s all you’re going to get

I could’ve been more

And you could’ve been less

But now there’s nothing left

Turn the tides

Drown your eyes

We’re gonna set the world on fire tonight

Strike a match

You’re such a catch

Call this pretend

I’m riding this ship out until the end

Don’t you dream bigger than this

You’re going to break your wrists

Set the sails

And set ablaze the mast

There’s someone on the inside

Just dying to get out of this

They look a lot like we did

They look just like us
