Sitting in a Shadow

Sitting in a Shadow

A Poem by C. Harter Amos

Sitting in the sunset,
thinking of those already gone
I like being alone.
with all the brilliant colors there to own,
like oils on a pallet
            waiting for me to use
                       to paint
the world and all its meaning
  in infinite variations of blue.

My heart is still beating
So there has to be hope
Somewhere on this side of Paradise
In the act of dim light becoming night,
A black and white world wipes away the traces
      of every imperfection.
There’s a happy ending for everyone
as they slip away,
                 two by two,
leaving me here,
sitting in shadows.

The other has been walking toward you since before the days were counted...all you ever had to do was be worthy... How do I know this? Oh, very nice poem...Ed

There is a certain slant of light, Dickinson said, sometimes it is enough to be sitting in the shadows.

Aw, well, don't be a wallflower, let's dance! This was very beautiful, I could read your poetry all day long and never tire of it, you have so much talent. I bow to your eloquence. Just don't get the bighead, lol
