Beg and BleedA Poem by C. Harter AmosAn answer to a challenge to write a description of insanityI’ll Beg and Bleed If the world is illusion And illusion is madness The fear of heaven and hell Cast a most ominous spell Over every weakened breath Filled with remorse and memory Fear of the hideous monster, death And missed, most treasured comradery. Come, break my window for me So I won’t see the shadow of what I fear. Come, break my mirror for me So I won’t see the reflected horror of what I hear. Please don’t leave me alone In my world of illusion When illusion is nothing. When I am nothing And I am alone.
