Beg and Bleed

Beg and Bleed

A Poem by C. Harter Amos
"

An answer to a challenge to write a description of insanity

"

I’ll Beg and Bleed

If the world is illusion

And illusion is madness

The fear of heaven and hell

Cast a most ominous spell

Over every weakened breath

Filled with remorse and memory

Fear of the hideous monster, death

And missed, most treasured comradery.

Come, break my window for me

So I won’t see the shadow of what I fear.

Come, break my mirror for me

So I won’t see the reflected horror of what I hear.

Please don’t leave me alone

In my world of illusion

When illusion is nothing.

When I am nothing

And I am alone.

this was wildly entertaining poem, Mimi. I totally liked it. For some might be the question about what is illlussion and what is real madness but I think - not for me. ha ha for I love craziness. hmmm thoughts about "i am nothing" are dangerous. i try not to have them often... be well, Mimi! sweet small thing you wrote.

Strong imagary of that mad place, where we fear, where all is uncertain and everything seems unreal.........
Insanity, the least understood disease. And the most destructive.
You are a marvellous writer with a deep insight.

An excellent write, reminscent of the Metaphysical poets. The ascending/descending structure plays to great effect. You end as if in prayer and it makes this poem have enormous heart. I think this is a favorite for me.
