A Poem by millennial leo

He’ll be here…

                        When?

Give it a moment.

            I’ve given him five.

One more?

            I’m not surprised.

He’s done this before.

He knows what this means.

I’m not so sure he does.

What about last year?

I’m sure he was here.

            He got drunk.

            Puked in his bed.

Oh.

            See.

Well, this will be different.

            I don’t really care.

Don’t say that!

            He always disappoints.

I think I see him.

Well, perhaps not.

            He’s not coming.

            Haven’t I said that.

He loves you.

            Then why isn’t he here?

He has his bad days.

            Yes, everyday of the year.

I’ll talk to him.

            And he’ll make his excuses.

            Stop believing he’ll change.

I’m sorry.

            For what?

Everything.

            You’ve done nothing.

            It’s always been him.

I was sure that this time was different.

That he would makes amends.

            I said I don’t care.

Don’t you?

This is an old poem I wrote but I still really like. Very conversational... either between two people or a person trying to convince themself.

The title defines the entire poem, nicely done. I like how it was the dialogue is spaced to show different people talking, tyfs

It reminds me of my Uncle he was an alcoholic who attempted suicide but thankfully by some grace other than the fact that he is indestructible survived. It reminds me to never give up on the ones I love pain and addiction go hand in hand neither is resolved quickly sometimes it takes something more to cry out for help. I certainly find it to be a great piece on being proactive.
