White on Black

White on Black

A Poem by Arly Parent

 Am I a shadow

And you the white chalk outline?

The sharp contrast?

The evidence of my crime?

There is only one reason for our juxtaposition

…And it is heinous

…Public

A black mark

A stain on humanity

On good sense

On peaceandclassandmovementandthoughtandhonorandsoundjudgement…

It is love

Yes--but without it (black) there is no definition--an interesting thoughtful muse!
We need black as much as we need white just as we need light to escape the dark--I feel a poem coming on!
thank you for sharing this strong verse.

:/ Ironically it's not much different when it actually happens the first time. I'm glad you got something from it. Especially something strong. Thanks for reading.
