She Who Bore You

She Who Bore You

A Poem by Arly Parent
"

I wrote this after seeing a ship crash and break up on the shore in a movie I was watching.

"
Show respect for she who bore you
and yet birthed you upon this foreign shore
she is more than a means to an end
a vessel in the storm

she is your carrier
and your protector
from the elements
and from harm

She wouldst take hurt for you first
if she could
and so she is
flesh of strong yet flexible wood,
strong unyielding steel,
inexhaustible fire of spirit

show respect for she who bore you
set you down upon this foreign shore

show respect for her
for where will you be when she is no more

There's nothing about me. I play with pauses as well as silence. I write words, assign meanings and junk, and play with a language that might be as much my own as another. I don't know. more..
