Seeing Her with Sound

Seeing Her with Sound

A Poem by Arly Parent

I fall in love with the oddest of things:
pitch centers,
singing voice warbles,
accent twangs,
lidded eyes,
and subtle looks of pure joy and pain and vulnerability when the notes float and flow just right.
I fall in love with overtones and dynamic shifts
minor falls and major lifts

and I See her
with a sight made of sound
a beauty made not of words but of symphonies, of purity
in a language so fundamental
all humanity knows its name

and my world is made all the better for it
for my eyes are merely mortal
but my ears may catch glimpse as she reveals her soul
