Suffering, Twice Removed

Suffering, Twice Removed

A Poem by Arly Parent
"

Just ...thinking about how much people suffer. I stumbled upon a random blog and there wasn't even too much of anything bad,really--finding a dead pet hamster and tears. Then a post that belied a fear

"
It's...quiet in here
a still place that somehow swirls with knowledge
of the cacophony of human suffering.

There's a stillness in this room,
a warm, quiet solidity as the jacket i'm wearing holds me tight,
wrapping arms around me and keeping me close to myself.
the heater thrumming smoothly in the background, filling the room with subtle sound and warmth.
It's just warm enough in here.
Toasty.

But all that doesn't change that it's cold outside.

There's nothing about me. I play with pauses as well as silence. I write words, assign meanings and junk, and play with a language that might be as much my own as another. I don't know. more..
