Heavy Quotes and Button Strings:The Words I Learned in CollegeA Poem by Arly ParentIt's been a rough semester. These are quotes of things I've heard throughout the past...5-6 months (with maybe a few outliers) from just...too many people. Also, I haven't chosen a title.Have an idea?I...have never been so beaten down, so patently aware of the follies and foibles of the world in which we live, of the people who inhabit it. There is
There is
harsh surprise when
someone still thinks you're a n****r. There is
simple words not meant to be but stemming
"Been there, done that"
And one need not mention
happening again. Because implicitly,

like you but who is unused to it all
that escaped your notice, that you did not see for what it was ...because of repetition and an easy sense...
and a shortage of foresight
to an affliction of every kind.
"I hate that..." "He keeps..." "It's just what I'm used to."
"I'm just a [derogatory comment]." "I keep doing...[detrimental action]." "I have done bad in the past." There is a prevalence in taking good for granted and no fear of consequences...
...or loss. Something... is wrong.
