My Oasis

My Oasis

A Poem by Miles

When the wave rolls back
It comes alive unexpectedly, consistently
I think I'm getting better
At swimming back to shore

The shore of my oasis in the clouds
If only for a moment
I can look around

At all the things that used to be
And all the trees that used to see
A lie, a loon, a thief
And all the other things
I've left on the reef

But even so
I'd rather deal with these things
Than deal with my hell
So I'm buildin' a bridge
Up to the sky

And I'll see you, then
