Drastic Measures

Drastic Measures

A Poem by Miles

Gut the fish
Leave me the rhythm
Of its severed stomach

Two twins death-defying
When you know they're about to faint
Shedding their swan song
For us to hear and fear
Over pints of beer
'Cause they're no longer here

Strike the match
Light another fuse to blow the wind toward it
This day unrelenting
When you know you could've moved
Another inch towards your shell
And it's breaking
Staking your life every time you take a bow

Listen to me
Time's beyond my reach
It could all break down in a second
Unless you

Cut the rope
Fall all the way towards the ground
And sprint to the thieves

Two blades sharp and ready
To spring open and take out swift revenge
In a minute
And he'll have you by the throat
Retrieving the location of his suicide note
