Sheep

Sheep

A Poem by Miles

I am the X and the Y
Discerned by sex and the mind
The reason I'll never find
Why I was given life

Strike me for difference
Show me indifference
Two hidden, stricken sides
Multiplied as the years go by

Nations, ideologies, ideas
Personalities, readying us
Symbols, prejudices, laws
Let's inhale another cause

This all feels so new
But what else can you do?
Parents makin' sure science ain't the saint
Maturity makin' sure ignorance melts away

Here to live and die
Take and give and cry
Forget and learn and lie
Sail and drive and fly

Fall in line
You'll be fine
Not here to shine
Follow the signs...
