A Poem by Miles

Taking a walk among the dogs
Hosting a battle in the fog
Taking gold medals from sloths
Hosting a feast with broth

Telling a tale from your home
Staking your life in Rome
Moving a little further
Talking about the weather

And it would have
Brought me down to my knees
But this day
I will beg while I please

Toasting a ghost in shadow
Running through a meadow
Holding up courts in fall
Through trenches in caution will I crawl

One step back
I won't let it get to me
One more time
So I can see

Bless this anecdote
Forget the antidote
I'd rather burn alive
Than lose my life in pastimes
