A Tour of Hell

A Tour of Hell

A Poem by Miles

If ye wish,
Grab hold, and tightly
For we shall fly nightly
Beyond and below
Mortal coils and leering gargoyles

Take heed of this shadow plain
Infinitesimal in thine domain
Though, true, it holds no place
In such a shallow, sickly space

Be it barren
As you may define it
Look closer and behold!
'Tis more than a terror

Does its lack of light blind you?
Your eyes seem teeming with judgement
Fearful like those of a rodent!
Let me bring you closer
To the ravage and mystery

Do you see any tears falling?
Do you see any blood crawling?
Is this what it would be,
If there were no lies?
I see ravens calling

It may look like a graveyard,
But where are the corpses?
Where do the ravens fly?
Where is the stench you imagined?

Can you give me one reason why?
One reason why they're here?
One purpose?
Tell me what they're doing!

Good
You know now
Hell is not terrifying
Just very lonely
