Lost In Drastic Reflection

Lost In Drastic Reflection

A Poem by Miles

Where's the action?
What's my mission?
What's my purpose?
If not to simply exist,
Graduate, work, parent,
Earn, love, and die?

I cannot live on in monotony
By habit, by populace, by the code
Of the world, of my DNA
Of the program, of the laws

I desire more
Freedom beyond limitation
Beyond imagination
Beyond this,

An enchained conformity
Obsorbed in delusions
Following fearsome effusions

A reclusive systematic equation
Reveling minor technological variation

Seeming to augment further
And distort further
A metallic illusion
Leaving the world, leaving reality

In what name?
A tossed existence
No longer filled with zeal and zest
No more adorned with teal and crest

Though, what can I do?
The laws and codes are set
In stone and paper and genes
In newspapers, books, and magazines

My mind is the only recluse
Dreaming of impossibilities
Illegalities and exciting maladies
Flight and foresight
Death and bright nights

A world demanding perfection
Is not a world for me
A world demeaning reflection
Is not a world for me

As I said once before,
I am here to find something once lost
Maybe it was myself
Or the things that made me
Scattered and shadowed

Yet, the more they are revealed
The more I feel confused
As it all contradicts itself
And destroys itself

So here I am, once again
Lost in drastic reflection
