Determined (Past Tense)

Determined (Past Tense)

A Poem by Miles

I choose this path
For I have seen it so often
And pondered it often
Curiously infinite connections
To a seemingly isolated theory

I imagine
For this passion was never repressed
A passion once unknown
A passion slowly inherited

I love
For they loved
And I assumed I should, too
Like monkey see, monkey do

That's all this is
A pretensive personification
Echoing the chanced encounters
An emulative travesty
Mimicing vivacious diversions

I know
For I was told
Once before
And once again
And never the obverse

I deviate
For I have been formed to do so
To hate, rebel, and swagger
And embrace this fateful dagger

The earth has no morals
No syntax or brass tax
It grows, according to the code
The law of the land
With no desire to understand
