Paradox (Pt. 1)

Paradox (Pt. 1)

A Poem by Miles

First they weren't there
And all was pure and good
Suddenly, these tainted memoirs
Appeared out of thin air

A thin solution
Lies in lucidity;
Blessed omnipotence!
Why have I not prepared?

Happiness rests with peace
Peace rests with salvation
Salvation rests deep

It's time to be friends
With skeletons and demons
There's no fear to be had
Nothing eternal to lose

I'll see you on the battlefield
You sick coward
Your wings were clipped
"Your bird ain't gonn' fly."

...Though they won't see me
A drifting lunar eclipse
In these narrow, expanding alleys

Foul trace
Persistant stare
Mocking my betrayal
There to huff and puff

Irradiant and subtle
But the needle won't break
Sweared in and wrenched out
Take my wife!
Take my life.

Still I breathe
And the portrait reeks
While the enemy's entertained

Feign content
An inspiring countenance
But the mind has no face
Dreadfully inadequate
To a blindly, faithful fool

My loathing for the slaves
Knows no bounds
I sympathize with rebels,
Philosophers, and heathens alike
Not raving revolutionaries

Take it back home
The nightmare's there
To let you know
Where you're gonna go

Hug it and kiss it
And cry it and love it
And see it and smell it
And wash it and dry it

Remember the law:
"Matter cannot be created or destroyed.
It can only be changed."
