The Day Hope Left Me
You sang the words to a song I had never heard,
and you drew me in like a siren to a cliff.
But now that halo is gone,
fallen to your hips like a belt,
even though your jeans lay on floor
by a bed that is not yours.
I sometimes hope...
that you will find peace in what you’ve done,
comfort in who you are,
and rest knowing what you’ve left in your wake.
The joy your song once brought me...
it crumbles to the ground like pillar of sand,
with the evening tide quickly closing in.
Lost in a maze that shows no sorrow,
with thorns that tear the skin.
There is no exit.
I want to know how you can sleep.
Memories that haunt,
do they disrupt your dreams too?
The sky is shattered.
The soil is scorched.
I can’t hear that song anymore,
and I've since jumped off that cliff.
Falling at 500 miles per hour
......
ever since the day Hope left me.
