dear I.,

i miss you.

i’ve been missing you for so long.

i miss your smile,

the dimples on your rosy cheeks;

i miss your laugh,

the way you lit up the room

with your warm, pure giggles;

i miss the way we talked-

how we never hid anything from each other,

how you knew everything about me

and me about you.

i miss hugging you,

the love and affection that i felt between your arms.

i miss that,

and so much more.

i miss us.

and i do so because i simply couldn’t live,

couldn’t be,

without you.

you were my guiding star,

a certainty;

and now i’m alone in this ocean of sharks,

wishing you were here

with me,

saving me from drowning under the ice cold waves.

just like you’ve always done.

but i promise that no matter what

i’ll always
