Peace of the DarkA Poem by Mike Defreitas
Valorous soldier, Keep fighting! Do not give up!
Although the sun falls, and the dark arises Upon you - it quickens, and you fall, it seems, into the void Do not go - do not lose sight, of what is there, shining still As a dimness, occluded all night But emerges in the presence of the ebullient light! Stay hidden - not to yourself Let everything float aglow Keep all things, constantly Floating about, as a thing to know But go! Go!!! Move now into the force of the glow Let the richness of the moment excite you still Still, do not fall, do not subscribe to the chill Favorably, look and accept the bitterness of the pill Not Me! Not me! Gasping for air Internal instinct, needing shaping Moaning in despair; embodying in his form A critical demeanor; A host existing within Entering through a person meaner When I flash back, flash back in I see myself: I grin, I laugh I wonder to myself: you're back! How did you go? why did I feel you gone? Of what force brings you back? And of what what force brings you out? Tired; weak; a strong force in my throat Tired cries; years gone by---- And still, the struggle unfolds -- And yet, I know and feel - not known But feel drawn from a place unknown. A place whose name called long ago I cant even say! Whose secrecy lives inside! As a voice, calling back through the annuls of time Yes - you are, you will be, your mind Echos back and forth from the sequence of time A string that pulls me forward; a belief; entering from a place Hard to discern. But it moves and it grooves And shapes how I see: my mind directs my mind Motivating states of how I shall be Tenderly, tenderly, put to rest this thought Go to bed, rest your head, And for the night, exist apart Give up your fight for life Rest, rest, in the peace of the dark © 2014 Mike DefreitasFeatured Review
