Do not Hurt MeA Poem by Mike DefreitasFear of being hurt
If there is good in this world, which I believe there is
I must trust you. Inwardly, I fear. I am opening myself up To both good and bad. If you see weakness in me, please do not judge Pause, mindfully, and know that I am injured. Can I trust your goodness? I want to. I want to trust that friends exist People who stand by you And care for you Because they care that you be strong That you live happily Can you ignore my anxiety And see it as a passing flare-up? Can you encourage me, and stay by me? Help me when my voice is weak? I see that human beings are truly Brothers and Sisters Inside each of us lies an awareness A spirit - a looker who is confronted with the same existential facts See this person. And you will see your very self
