Somehow

Somehow

A Poem by Michael Howell

Deprivation can speak in many tongues

but yours comes first tonight.

Do you really not see

how much I need you now?

I’m sick, love, in more ways than you can imagine.

But you don’t listen.

Do you care?

Somewhere in the world

Someone else is enjoying you

Somehow I need you, but

Do you care?

Night skies, usually a blanket of comfort

now a shroud, choking me, I’m alone.

Nothing but the cold of winter onset

to wrap its more caring arms

around me.

Do you care?

Somewhere your eyes lock with another

Someone else knows they love you

Somehow I know this, but

Do you care?

You told me you could only love me,

yet every waking moment I feel opposed.

Slow dance with another if you will,

don’t make me wait, if you’re done with me

Let me die in peace, alone.

For I could never live without you

Do you care?

Somewhere my souls’ arm reaches across the world to you

Someone chooses the path I oppose

Somehow my soul will die, but

Do you care?

A thoughtful tone caries through this piece. It has a heavy weight of emotion to it to. There is nothing like wondering if your being thought about in the after math. I will definitely need to read more of your work. "Somewhere my souls' arm reaches across the world to you" is my favorite line as it shows the longing and the care that still lingers. . Nice work.
