Abandon

Abandon

A Poem by Greg Peterson
"

Another poem about the fruitless endeavors of man. It basically just is about a man's obsession over a legend, and finding out it was nothing more than a pile of rust.

"

I heard a tale of Kings and Men

About a sword

Named Abandon

None could claim

Yet many tried

And all who did

All but died

I quested far

From house and Home

Til none were left

And all alone

Then upon cliff,

cavern lay

My bones now stiff

I made my way

After all the years

Of fruitless travels

The loss of peers

It comes unraveled

Though thereupon altar

Rust did lay

And pedestal adorned

With past dismay

The graven marks upon the lid

It said Abandon

And I did
