Never Ending Story

Never Ending Story

A Poem by Edward Martin
"

Wax philosophical.

"

maybe made a few mistakes but one too many hasn't come
vampires may stay up late but the sun sets where it always does

i traveled a long way but the people don't seem to ever change
with lint in my pockets and my wallet i'm rich anyways

life experience has more value than anything
a wise owl told me don't forget the pain you have sustained

i use it to help me get the pants up and around my waist
cause mornings are hard and dreams don't come easily for heavens sake

if i played the lottery everyday i couldn't win
cause nothing could ever hold more value than an honest man

when i was a liar nothing could get underneath my skin
but fantasy land is useless if imaginations dead.

getting lost in the quicksand you cant fathom how it sucks you down
the people who try to save you are the ones you push around
if you're lucky enough they're still there when you figure all this out
but unfortunately the case is most will stare and watch you drown.

I don't think it holds very true in the modern world but I love this line "cause nothing could ever hold more value than an honest man"...this more of your thoughts than a poem...but it was nice to read it!
