Mary

Mary

A Poem by Edward Martin
"

These are words I would speak to my guardian angel.

"

All for you,

Tell me I belong

Can't convince myself

Tell me I belong

Feel so out of place

Don't fit any shapes

Staring into space,

Tell me I belong

Some aren't meant to.

Take their own lives,

Inside the walls of their own minds,

Pressures building,

No more outlets,

No one listens,

Lonely victims,

Dig their own grave,

Is this my way?

Tell me I belong

Even in a crowd

Walking all alone.

Tell me I belong

Will I make the grade?

I'm a paperweight.

Sitting ever so still.

Tell me I belong

I'll believe it's true.

Hearing it from something that isn't meant to brood.

Conjure up the lyrics and give them to my muse

Let her sing the song to me before I tie the noose.

Tell me I belong,

Tell me that it's true,

Tell me that my actions are what I came to do

Tell me that the end is in front of heavens gate.

Tell me on my deathbed my secrets are all safe.
