The Girl With Stars in Her Eyes...A Poem by Leah NatalieI wrote this while crying after reading a terribly sad book. The girl with sparkles on her nails, Diamonds in her hair And stars in her eyes. That was me. We all have dreams, Hopes, thoughts, wishes. It takes but a single moment, To take all that away. The day Peter never taught you how to fly, The day a white rabbit never came to be followed, The day a cyclone didn’t pick up your house. The days you cried with no one left to catch your tears. 13 years and then shock, thunder, lightning. Leaving you empty, hollow. This pain never dies, never leaves, never ceases. It will be your Casper for the rest of your life. Haunting you with happy memories, Of the days in the sun, little pigtails, Imaginary friends and games. Never fading never dying, Like living in a never ending dream. But now I cry myself to sleep with no one to wish to. Not Santa. Not Peter. Not rabbit. Not winnie the pooh. No one. The harsh reality leaves nothing but a Monday morning, Boring, painful and lifeless. But may those days in the heart of a child never die, Nor the joy of their never staying daydream. © 2011 Leah NatalieAuthor's Note
