It's Not Your Fault

It breaks me up inside

To see those tears in your eyes

Makes me wonder what it is

That tears you up inside

You don’t say a single word

Never once have you complained

Yet why do you give such cold weary eyes

Why don’t you come out and say

Say those lines that no one has heard you say

Say those lines strong and loud

Tell them that all that has been said were only lies

Tell them that you’re not that girl

That everyone makes you out to be

Tell them that those rumors they heard

Were just that. Rumors.

Tell them why you’ve got those bruises

That you always hid with your sleeves

Tell them that it’s not your fault…

Just tell them…

Maybe then they’ll see.

Why you don’t complain

About the simple things

That most teens would complain

Tell them why you’re scared to date…

Tell them why that night you were home late.

Just come out and say

 Those lines strong and loud

For everyone to hear

That it’s not your fault…

It’s not your fault…
