ME

ME

A Poem by LeAnn Taylor

A mask like any other,

A smile slid in place,

A stupid look ready to be plastered

Bits and pieces

Scattered on the wind,

Falling upon deaf ears

Insert “Loud laugh” here

Place “Questioning Face” at this spot

Manipulate Him/Her” now

Smile And Pretend

IT DOESN’T HURT

Has anyone ever asked why?

NO

Have they ever wondered the truth?

MAYBE

Did anyone really care?

ONCE

Are they actually listening?

NEVER

Afraid, Scared,

Inner thoughts,

Turmoil,

Pretending,

home-hell-work

Mysterious,

Transparent as the night

ME

I’m me
