Road

Road

A Poem by A

The road
is my home
As I lay there,
the blacktop sears
my skin
The pain forces me
to forget
I mean,
that's all I
want
To forget

The rumble underneath
my back
Gets me running
away
I always wanted
an excuse
to flee

I stare away
from my current
'situation'
Maybe the sun
can blind me
Maybe a car
may nick me
Maybe a man
will steal me
from where I
lay

But I'd rather
remain

What an amazing play on words. I love how the poem flows and seems to tell a story. I immediately connected with the words of the poem on a personal level even though it was obviously about a road. I would like to commend you on your creativity. Keep up the good work and good luck in your future endeavors. I look forward to reading more works by you in the future.
