The LedgeA Poem by A
I sit up on a ledge
Staring down at water, jagged with my decisions Loneliness hedging me to jump to end it all Cloudy, dusty skies threaten rain upon me It will fill the river, forcing it to rise and consume me faster than gravity could have pulled me down And I welcome it I think about all my choices What led me to this peak, or could push me over the edge Here I decide to give in to fate To have God take me where he will I lie back on the rock The cracked pieces digging uncomfortably into my back And I stare into the endless sky overhead, where someday I may hope to rest my tired mind -A © 2016 A |
