A Night With Five Year Old Me

A Night With Five Year Old Me

A Story by Kayla

Everyone remembers certain events in their lives as if it happened yesterday. Most of those events, in my life, revolve either around my parents or my sister. One of these events happened on a cold winter night, not long before my 6th birthday. I remember it snowed that day and my brother came over. At the time my 19 year old brother only slept over occasionally so I was excited that he was there. After dinner he took me outside to play in the snow. When we came back inside my mom made me hot chocolate like she always did when it snowed. My brother was watching some sports game on TV and I thought it was weird that my dad wasn’t watching with him. I didn’t see my dad for the rest of the night. My mom put me to bed and a little while later my dad came in and said good night. I remember asking him where he went and replied “No where, I was here the whole night.”

Later that night I woke up to yelling, which had become what seemed like a daily thing at the time. All I could hear was a lot of muffled noises and then I heard my mom say “You know (dad's name her)?” Then I heard a big bang and started crying. A couple minutes later m brother came in, I sat on his lap and he just held me until I stopped crying. I remember exactly what everything and everyone looked like, how I felt and everything. I made my brother sleep in my room that night because I was scared. The next day my parents acted like nothing had happened and there was a big mark on the wall in their bedroom. To this day, neither one of my parents knows that this happened.

Wow, this is a very good write also, I see the most important events, not a lot of detail but not too little just enough to get the jist, very well written.
