A Walk in His Shoes

A Walk in His Shoes

A Poem by Mickey Ellison

Sometimes I had to jump between
The strides so long and powerful
With love he led me on
To try to walk in his shoes

Whether through the fields of green
Or mountain high spring meadow
He always led the way
For us to walk in his shoes

Driven by Holy Spirit
This soul reached always upward
A shepherd providing supper
For those who’d walk in His shoes

Even when facing the vale
Of sorrow and tears below
This man strode bravely forward
So those he loved would see and know
To try to walk in his shoes

Today his shoes belong to me
And long after they are worn
His life. His Spirit. His memory.
Will keep me reaching on
To try to walk in his shoes

I'm sorry about your father.
I almost though it was about God, with the "Holy Spirit" thing.
Good write.
