Snow

Snow

A Poem by Michelle_H

Gray skies cover my view

of a world blanketed in snow.

The wind shies away from the light,

Yet I can see where it is restless.

Ice casts a shadow over the moon,

for nothing is quite so brilliant as winter's tears.

An eternity of white fills my eyes

as I step out into winter.

Nothing that is so harsh in this world

could be so gentle as the snow.

For though no life lies beneath,

winter itself lives in the frozen depths.

I look back and watch my footprints;

a shadow of life,

disappear as winter lives again.

Bright enough to make on blink by reflex; the chill, the sharpness of winter's dormant clime it palpable in your poem. Brings back memories of the wild plains in December.
