Christian Charlee's StanceA Poem by Michelle GentMy daughters confirmation
Springtime cherry blossoms snow
Whirligig pedals dust a green lawn Rain clouds of two days hence have passed Speckled light shines through a myriad of branches Like punched stick pins in a destination map She wears mother's keep sake veil Bobby pinned and securely fastened To erratic foam roller curls Run away tendrils frame cherubic face Gala apple cheeks paint an ivory complexion A white rose corsage misted in sparkles Worn around her wrist, she gazes at it A gold cross strung around her neck Completing metamorphosis and new beginning A symbol of her first holy communion Her white purse secure around shoulder Houses scapular, rosary beads and bible With the scripture Vine and Branch Teaching rebirth, forgiveness, enlightenment She twirls dizzily in circles Arms spread wide, and out to the sides Her head throw backwards As to catch snowflakes on her tongue Or perhaps practicing for afternoon events The suns warmth kisses her face A veil catching the breeze she's lifted Like a breezy garment, released from clothesline The day is new, the dawn has sung At age eight her soul is still wholesome Still there's so much change ahead A foundation poured, set and secure To any inclement weather that may be coming Branch and Vine, crucifix and bible And loving parents standing beside her © 2015 Michelle GentAuthor's Note
