Teenage BattlefieldA Poem by Michelle GentThat awkward faze between childhood and adult
Teenage Battlefield-
Hormones, hormones raging out of control Tormented emotions on secondly basis Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde never knowing who will make their first appearance Schizophrenic personas spinning out of control One moment insults and obscenities The next quiet, elusive, cool Strutting peacocks on parade Trying to entice the opposite sex By appearing larger than they feel Next act a show of strength A premeditated fight In hopes of winning a prize Pummeling unsuspecting males at rest Gorilla's pounding their chests Dragging trophy mates away Femme fatales competing as well Inflated beauty contestants upon catwalk Cat fights, cattiness, jealousy All in hopes of top spot and holding crown And the most coveted of possessions the cutest boy in school Puberty deals a terrible blow Acne, voice changes Facial and body hair Growth spurts, bosoms, curves Mood swings to insecurity The beast takes over again © 2015 Michelle GentAuthor's Note
