My Mothers Frankenstein Monster

My Mothers Frankenstein Monster

A Poem by Michelle Gent
"

A mother who's afraid to say no

"
My Mother's Frankenstein Monster-

Mother cannot break free
From the belly of the beast
This mad machine

An enabler by nature
A nurturer, with boundless energy
And endless patience, whose abundant children
Have now taken over, running her under

Her flowered perspective distorts her perception
For a need to be pleasing, app

Because she's is afraid of a rebellion
She caters to her helpless husband (lovable lap dog)
Always in the way, interrupting task at hand

Bends over backwards, sideways, upside down
For six children and thirteen children (villagers)
Impatient pillagers trying to bang the door down
Baby sitting shifts are endless
Consisting of grandpuppy duty as well

Her elderly mother (Igor)
Sports a hunchback backpack of baggage to unload
Expects much, but gives little in the way of help or support

Sooner or late something's going to short circuit
From overload
Concern for this mad scientist's safety is somewhere
Lost in the laboratory

This insane pace can go on for only so long
People pleasing breeds resentment
Sainthood isn't that far off
