Enchanted Carousel

A Poem by Michelle Gent

Enchanted Carousel-

Carousels melodious calliope
Monotone yet endearing
Recall's a spark ignited
Capturing innocence long forgotten

Enchanted pastel ponies soar
Meticulously hand painted
ostentatiously adorned

Enthusiastic equestrians get carried away
Thunders hooves stomp passed mystical dreamscapes
Murals disorient, distract, elate

Castles, courtyards, canyons
Evoke images of princes, wizards and dragons
Unicorns transport damsels in distress
Shrieking and holding on for grim death

Undecipherable banter, laughter
Faces morphing while sp0inning increasingly faster
Cotton candied occupants are lifted to higher heights
As they encircle a May pole
Their sticky fingers grasping reins to paradise
