Carried Away

Carried Away

A Poem by Michelle Gent
"

How we're all taken along on life's journey at different paces. And under the same big sky.

"
Carried Away-

Lazy day finds me on bent elbows
Daydreaming breeze takes me away
Tossing my hair from side to side
Like snapping sheets on a clothes line
Clothes become a wrinkled newspaper

Forget you've seen me
I'm lost on meadow's meditation
Reeds rustling, gossiping, stealing secrets
A game of telephone already in progress

Freshly mowed grass tickles my nose
Vehemently sending trumpets sounding
A butterfly skips merrily
Leaving charcoal shadows on the lawn
Fluttering appendages clapping
Applauding the heavens for a job well done

Wildflowers belly dance on the breeze
Siren's allure tempts busy buzzing bees
Momentarily they stop to take a sample

Upwind upbeat bass bombards me
Bombastic bully slaps me in the face
Spoiling my peace and tranquility

Dixie land melodies play beneath a shaded gazebo
Symphony's midday serenade, a speak easy
For lovers enraptured in one another, oblivious to others

Children's wishes chased along the reeds
While wind takes orbs soaring ever higher
Youngsters jump high trying to grasp
Missing, tripping, laughing, sphere's just out of grip

Elderly gent gives misses a playful wink
As they shuffle along hand in hand
A dandelion between his fingers, he blows
Wishes disperse, he places an affectionate kiss upon her cheek
