Twilight Cacophony

Twilight Cacophony

A Poem by Michelle Gent
"

A fantasy outing

Twilight Cacophony-

Fireflies, ushers that lead the way
luminaries guiding twilight's serenade
Ambient predecessors paint a picture
Adding to celestial surrealism

Out of the shadows
A raspy bullfrog staggers
Crooning throaty blues, chain smoking
And sipping his Scotch & water

A fly zips along
Adding to already dreamy mood
An interrupted slurp
And the fly is no longer

Unfazed, Jazzy B. continues
Nonchalantly singing soulful blues
With soulful stare, scatting poetic prose
Intermittently playing harmonica

Calico's agile stance
Perched atop stockade fence
Reverberating vibrato a gargle
Not jiving with sleek vibe
More in time with tattoo scars
Souvenirs from long forgotten brouhahas

Crickets pluck away at God given violins
Strumming second naturedly
Staring blankly, eyes half shut
Sway on a blade of grass, lost in melancholy

Koi fish heads bob up and down
Eyes peek out from mirrored pond
Allowing free show what a stroke of luck
Nervously engaging, submerging at the faintest of noises
not wanting to get caught

Prominent owls in balcony seats
Sit well above the masses, viewing through opera glasses
Hooting hoots in applause
Screaming bravos and shouting out encore!

Moonlight concert goes on into the wee hours of the morn
Devout devotees, insomniacs hardcore
A grateful band eager to oblige sing two more songs
Then announce, "We love you, goodnight!"
