Torrential Lullaby

Torrential Lullaby

A Poem by Michelle Gent
"

Mood interrupted

"
Torrential Lullaby-

Tap dancing raindrops fall
Like little dappling shoes that stomp
Composing a rhythmic soft-shoe number
Repeating drops keeping time to the beat
Closing my eyes I recline in peaceful retreat
Nearly falling asleep from the calming tempo

Until "Crash, Boom, Bang!"
Thunder, lightning an intrusion so frightening
It shudders me to the core
Startled uneasiness quickly dissipates
With the resuming Rockettes tapping on skylight

A rhythmic thump, bump, thah, thump, thump, bump
Leaning back I close my eyes in peaceful meditation
The continual lull soothes me, such a striking composition
Is music to the ears, an encompassing comforter enveloping with ease
I drift back into slumber on a sea of wondrous dreams
