Drama of a Narc's DaughterA Poem by Michelle GentA poem about families that have family members in high risk jobs And the affect it has on them not knowing if that loved one is going to come home
Drama of a Narc's Daughter-
Daddy dear working around the clock Why do you have to work so much? A work-a-holic who loves what he does Risking life an limb to keep drugs off our streets Taking Columbian Big Pins out for a drink It's sink or swim you're worried about being killed And can't look legit drinking club soda So you drink scotch and soda, one after another Daddy when will you be home? We're worried sick! Momma's crying again Worried you're left for dead Alone in a ditch You're still away on your business trip Every time the phone rings mama jumps I feel like I'm walking on pins and needles You're finally home, what a relief But smelling of alcohol, mama isn't at all pleased Should you be more afraid of criminals or mom on rampage? He screams," You don't know the day I've had!" "If you're going to argue and yell then I'm going to bed." "Daddy we we're worried, please don't leave us!" "You never have to worry baby I'm not going anywhere." "Go upstairs and go to bed." "I'm glad you're home daddy, can you please tuck me in." "And read me a story." © 2015 Michelle GentAuthor's Note
