What's the hurry?

What's the hurry?

A Poem by Michelle Gent
"

Take your time.

"
What's the Hurry?-

Be patient, slow down
Don't rush the phases of your life
The stages and ages of the best years of your life
Just so you can say you're another year older

So you can stay up late
Walk to school
Sit in the front seat of the car
Have a sleep over
Go to the prom
Graduate college
Get a job
Get married
Have a child
Have another
Be a grandmother
Have aches and pains
Go to your husbands funeral
Get dementia and stare at the ceiling

Wake up before it's too late and live
Each day is a gift not to be wasted away
Taking it for granted and taking it easy
Because before you know it, it's the end
And you haven't accomplished half of what you had planned
And your shaking hands with old age, staring it in the mirror
Wishing you could do it all over again, promising this time you'll change
