Vaughn williams on a hot dayA Poem by Michael OliverThoughts about hearing VW's Fantassy on a theme of ThomasTallis in the middle of a heat wave. Was unsure if I ever concluded this piece there are so many ways it can go. Drifting through
the unfair heat Of my rooms shaded
failure Moved by an old
familiar Back to a then
time before Which haunted the
tweed stuff fabric Worn by childhood
innocence
Patriarch obedient About some old
rectory Across the mirage
ripple The unsure meadow
listens The millrun rushes apace Repeating some spoken world And the silent bough silent The broken bridge awaits On the mutual dialogue With the passage of water Walking this re-tinted land The silver nitrate pose In forever Elysium Fixed into the past fabric By the starch of privilege Idling in a piece of peace The ache of their oblivion © 2019 Michael OliverReviews
