Musing in sixteen linesA Poem by Michael OliverA memory filtered by 45 years
The present live in old barns
Echoed as the forgotten Myths in a spent mystery Wrapped in a written charm And yearning Theocritus Upon the scent of summer hay And wagons and sparrow song And the hum of lazy flies A snatch of nostalgia A simple touch away Live - behind those curtains Which were secretly drawn Under the light bulb stare A silent harvest reaped Still at play - this empty game Of times aching garner
