On Holding

On Holding

A Poem by Michael Oliver
"

An oeservation the other day the use of the word 'like ' as some form of punctuation and the way these days we all seem to hold things phones cards etc

"

Gasped in the world of simile

White phones or cards clutched tight

            Security of transit

Of waiting on calls - buses

I was once there with this now

            A definition - as hummed

            Bound in Ein Heldenleben

Deaf - to my own  Prospero?

Here beyond - ‘must be’ - before

The ropes of a worship dogma

            Frayed with tracts of experience

Wisdom dawns and says  - ‘fear not’

i think we hold the electronics a bit too close...they choke us...they run us...we go by their schedules...not ours...

i think wisdom would say...let's talk to each other in person more...let's make real contact...
we worship the tablets...and not the commandment type...the current type.
I'd like to see us hold each other, more.

I like capturing the world in various mediums for a long time I was a painter, but more recently I realize the same imperative can be used to direct words as well as brushes. more..
