An AutumnA Poem by Michael OliverI have been reading Emily Dickinson found her style suite what i wanted to say and the way i wanted to say it in this verse.
Autumn once here then - once - gone
How unnoticed - a light - weather purchased Punctuation - idles - at a conversations flow Effects a passing - outside my window Not the subject of gate leaning Not a luminous cloud webbed field Skipped on - by Daddy Long Legs As the morning light pondering Mists - in the instinct - were debates The sun disc - a subtle arbiter As a Robin called a change Halted me - aware -of clarion alchemy The soft light of an afternoon Over there - an appreciation - the trees Mellow - humble - mute - bid summers leaf And green purpose - a lullaby farewell Tonight - a cooling - a flattened sky Star bright - untouched - street light jaundice To home - wrapped up - hunched up As winter waits - a winter gait Moon - white trace - over dark houses A falling season - makes redundant - dusk Unbothered with a silent stark shining thinks a statement and horizon hangs What once was - is now - gone A seasonal metaphor - on a progress Glances back - recalls - beyond - the inward Musing - looking - sighs a different breath © 2013 Michael OliverReviews
