Summer Haiku

Summer Haiku

A Poem by Michael Oliver

                    Hiding from the heat
             Lime blossom scent in shadows
                    Fanning the coolness

                    A night in stasis
             The soundless storm prediction
                    Each leaf is counting

                    The butterfly thought
             A boy attempts a capture
                    Among the yellow

                    With autumns first taste
             The cobwebs moving question
                    A cool draft inspires

                    As the river flows
              Sunlight touches in passing
                    A memory's pool

                   The sky announces
The clouds part as a deference
                   August perfect moon

Oh, I love Haiku! It's such a beautiful form that requires careful skill and the beauty of nature to express what one feels and experiences, connecting nature and emotions in words condensed into an art form. You do a wonderful job with these Haiku and I commend you for your mastery.

thank you -glad you felt it
' The butterfly thought ~ A boy attempts a capture ~ Among the yellow '

I feel as if I've just eaten a truly delicious feast! These are more than fine senryus, have exqusite phrasing and are immensely graphic.

About
I like capturing the world in various mediums for a long time I was a painter, but more recently I realize the same imperative can be used to direct words as well as brushes. more..
