Yellow

Yellow

A Poem by Michael Hess

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Sometime at night before

I started drinking.

What words can I say to change your mind,

To get you to stay and not leave me behind?

Just one more night can't do much harm.

Let me hold you in my arms.

And if you must go, go away,

Wait for a brand new day.

Take my hand,

Let me help you

Stand up and find your way home.

Take this leap,

This leap of faith,

And together we'll find better days.

Together we've got the world on our side.

All we need is just more time.

Your eyes shine bright, just like the stars.

You washed away all of my scars

With the touch of your hand upon my chest,

You brought out my very best.

Take my hand,

Let me help you

Stand up and find your way home.

Take this leap,

This leap of faith,

And together we'll find better days.
